Gustave Flaubert Biography
Gustave Flaubert (1821-1880) was a French novelist and short-story writer, considered one of the greatest literary figures of the 19th century. He was born in Rouen, France, and grew up in a middle-class family. He studied law in Paris but soon abandoned it to pursue a career in literature. He is known for his masterpieces such as Madame Bovary (1857) and Sentimental Education (1869). He was also an advocate of literary realism, and his works were known for their precise and detailed descriptions of everyday life. His writing style was noted for its attention to detail and his use of language, and he is considered one of the most influential writers of the 19th century. He died in 1880 in Croisset, France, and is buried in the cemetery of Rouen.
