John Tyndall (1820-1893) was an influential Irish physicist known for his work in atmospheric science and the study of the physical properties of air. Born in Leighlinbridge, County Carlow, he made significant contributions to the understanding of the greenhouse effect, scattering of light, and the properties of radiant heat. Tyndall's experiments on the absorption and radiation of heat by gases were foundational in climate science. He also popularized science through his lectures and writings.
